WHY I BUILT
THE MUSIC PLACE
I'm Vicki Weaver, and I started teaching music when I was 16 years old. I didn't know it yet, but that was the beginning of a question I'd spend the next chapter of my life trying to answer.
Many of you know me as the longtime owner of Easton Music Academy. The Music Place is my reimagined take on that work — everything I learned about how kids actually fall in love with music, built from the ground up around one idea.
Over the years, I've watched hundreds of kids walk through my doors. I've seen the moment a child realizes they can actually make music — not someday, not after enough practice, but right now, with their own hands. That moment is electric. It's why I do this.
But I also watched something else happen, over and over. That same excitement would quietly turn into frustration. Not because the child lacked talent or interest — but because the path forward became about keeping up, practicing perfectly, or following one specific route through one specific method book. Music, which should feel like freedom, started to feel like a test some kids were failing.
What if a child could experience the feeling of being a musician from the very first day — before the scales, before the theory, before any of it? What if playing came first, and everything else was built around that feeling instead of postponing it?
That question is what became The Music Place. It's not a scaled-down version of a traditional academy, and it's not built to replace private lessons — plenty of kids do both, and that's great. It's simply a different starting point: a place where kids get to play real instruments, play real songs, make music alongside other kids, and feel like a musician from day one.
I'm not interested in building another business that runs on me being in the room every hour of every day. I'm building something that can grow — more teachers, more instruments, more kids discovering this feeling — without losing the thing that makes it work in the first place: kids playing, together, for real.

Kids learn fundamentals hands-on, then immediately put them into practice — learning, playing, and experimenting in the same breath.
Different experience levels, one shared musical experience — kids build confidence by making music with other kids, not alone.
Fall session starts Tuesday, October 13
Ages 6–8 and 9–12, no experience needed.
